Why does the API return a 402 error?

HTTP 402 with the error subscription_required means your account has no active plan. This happens when:

  • your free trial has ended, or
  • your paid subscription was cancelled or a renewal payment failed.

How to fix it

Open Billing in your dashboard and subscribe. Your account and API keys stay in place, so your requests start working again as soon as the payment is confirmed. You do not need to change any code.
